I love TV. I’m not ashamed to say that I have a list of shows I could watch all day, every day. I also love that television has a huge role in the fashion world. Some TV shows (aside from Naked and Afraid) have hundreds of people on staff that do nothing but dress the stars of those said shows. What a dream.
I have a couple of shows in particular that I am seriously envious of when it comes to the character’s wardrobes. Here’s who I’d give my right hand to raid the closet of and where you can get their style pieces on the cheap:
Olivia Pope from Scandal : Olivia Pope. The Queen of dramatic mouth movement, the master of the bouncy stomp walk and inspirational yet slightly scary monologues, and the fixer we all want on our side. If you haven’t watched this show and you love a good presidential love triangle (think Kennedy good looks paired with the best of Clinton’s sleaziness) you will LOVE THIS SHOW.
It’s not just the story plot that gets my heart pulsing. Olivia’s serious business woman attire is to die for. However, the staple of Olivia’s style? Her coats, of course.

H & M Trumpet Sleeve Jacket; $49.95
Etsy, Pink Wool Jacket; $68.00
My next TV obsession is Caroline Stanbury from Ladies of London: Caroline is the balls-y business woman with a British personality that immediately translates into making fun of all things American. However, it doesn’t make me mad, it’s actually quite truthful. Here are some of my favorite Caroline quotes:
“In Britain, we aren’t meant to get that excited about things, or at least show your excitement. Look, this is me excited now. You don’t know.”
“Americans are stereotypically known to be loud, brash and eager to please – they think putting on a pretty hat and party dress is appropriate for everything.”
I mean, really. It’s the truth ladies! How many times do we get in trouble for wearing our heart on our sleeve as a female? We’ve all been around “that girl” who’s ended up crying at a party or in a very public setting and most of us have actually been “that girl” only to cringe later at our embarrassing over-emotional outburst. We could take a lesson from the Brits.
My favorite thing about Caroline is that she’s seriously successful, yet she wears a denim jacket and distressed jeans to events that the Americans are decked out in designer duds for. The key to Caroline’s fashion success? She doesn’t take herself too seriously. I love that in a woman, but especially in a successful woman.
So, here’s how to channel your inner Brit and your inner Caroline:

H & M Skinny High Jeans; $39.95
Forever 21 Boxy Heathered Tee; $13.80
Hopefully you found some inspiration from these two powerful presences on TV that I love myself!
Thank you for reading!
xx,
Jordan
