This Wedding Season, Flaunt Your Insecurities

If you haven't noticed, it's wedding season! That means a lot of events to attend, a lot of gifts to buy, a lot of dancing to be...danced. While eating, drinking, and being merry are all great, a lot of women today suffer from insecurities when it comes to choosing an appropriate dress/outfit for an event such as a wedding that requires one to dress up.
I love hearing girls talk about their insecurities. Often times, the thing that one girl hates about herself is exactly what another woman envies about her. However, I also understand feeling as bloated as a beluga whale and the last thing you want to wear is a form fitting outfit.
So, instead of being ashamed of the body part that you don’t like, why not accentuate it in a way that makes you feel comfortable, masking it in a way that makes you feel confident in your own skin?
Tummy: A tight tummy is not something all girls are blessed with, abs are a mythical creature to most of us. A great way to hide a belly is to wear something with an empire waist, which means that the dress or shirt is cinched either at the waist or directly below the bust line with a small elastic band or with a belt of some sorts. This allows the fabric to fall loosely around the tummy. In the blue dress pictured, above, the waist is not only cinched, but it also has a large ruffle that draws the eye away from the stomach.
Another precious and super comfortable alternative is the shift dress. This is a garment that has no waist, which hides a tummy perfectly and these dresses look great on anyone.
Hips/Booty: Let’s all take a moment and thank the likes of J.Lo, Kim Kardashian, and Beyonce for their real contribution to society, making having a large derrière appealing and sexy. However, if you’re not feeling like being so “bootylicious” for a wedding, go for an a-line hem or a true cinched waist.
The way that a booty stays under wraps is a lot like the way a tummy is hidden. Loose, free flowing fabric hides a large butt and hips.
Pleats are a great way to hide a butt and hips as well, however, go for a larger pleat rather than a smaller one. The large pleat is a great disguiser while a smaller pleat tends to widen anything it is draped over.
Arms/Chest: Small-breasted women everywhere can rejoice in the fact that small boobies are IT right now! I love the look of a flatter chest with a low cut blouse or dress; it is so chic it’s unreal.
The reason that arms and chest are clustered together is because they fall under the same area that the eye falls when dressing.
Most women are insecure about their upper arms, not their forearms. A good way to disguise arms without wearing long sleeves in the scorching heat is to wear a long sleeve that is open from the shoulder to the wrist.
Another way is to accentuate the shoulder, while hiding the arms. Off-the-shoulder garments are very hot right now and are the perfect example of this.
Legs: Last but not least, legs. Legs are very important to a woman and a lot of women wish theirs could be longer. While I wouldn’t suggest stretching them, elongating them is a lot simpler and much less painful.
When you want your legs to look longer, color is key. A nude shoe with a short dress makes the leg look longer and the eye doesn’t automatically travel to the feet.
Also, the shorter the dress, the longer the legs will appear.
Avoid a heel with a noticeable ankle strap, the ankle strap tends to cut off the leg giving it a shorter appearance.
I hope this post helped you choose your outfit for the upcoming weddings you’ll be attending!

Jordan
